Celebrex Can Have Several Side Effects

Celebrex is a drug that is used to treat arthritis. Pfizer manufactures Celebrex. Some of the common side effects of Celebrex may include headache, diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, sinus inflammation and upper respiratory tract infection. Celebrex is also linked to the possible side effect of potentially fatal stomach or intestinal bleeding. It has also been linked to an increased risk of blood clots, heart attacks and strokes. The drug is prescribed for the treatment of osteoarthritis, adult rheumatoid arthritis, and the pain associated with menstrual cramping.

On December 17, 2004, Pfizer released results from a study that showed Celebrex more than doubled the risk of heart attack and stroke among patients participating in the survey. The study found that patients taking 800mg of Celebrex daily were at a 3.4 times great risk of serious cardiovascular risk (including heart attack and stroke) than those taking a placebo. Those patients taking the 400mg dosage were at a 2.5 times great risk. In spite of this damaging data, the President of Pfizer said the company had no plans to recall Celebrex. He said the drug had not "shown in totality that it increases the risk of heart attacks." On December 23, 2004, the FDA urged doctors to limit prescribing Celebrex.

If you or a loved one has suffered from the side effects of Celebrex, you may qualify for damages and should contact a qualified Celebrex lawyer as soon as possible. If Celebrex has injured you, you may be entitled to compensation. It is essential that you inquire about your Celebrex lawsuit as soon as possible. Do not take the risk of having your claim rejected because you waited too long to see an attorney. Your individual state's law may limit your time to bring a legal claim to protect your rights.
